Bitterroot BBQ

The restaurant I visited that specializes in BBQ exceeded my expectations. I ordered the pulled pork and smoked chicken, and was delighted with the generous portions. The meats were tender, flavorful, and expertly smoked. Accompanying my meal were a variety of delectable sides. The French fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned, while the cheddar grits provided a rich and creamy complement. The highlight, however, was the jalapeno cheddar cornbread, which added a delightful kick to each bite. The ambiance of the place was appealing, offering both indoor and outdoor seating options. I chose to dine indoors, enjoying the rustic decor and cozy atmosphere. The waitress was attentive and provided excellent service throughout my meal. One minor inconvenience was that they only accepted card payments, but this did not diminish my overall experience. In conclusion, this BBQ restaurant impressed me with its flavorful and plentiful offerings. The combination of succulent meats, generous sides, and attentive service made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Whether you're a BBQ enthusiast or simply craving a satisfying meal, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Everything was a big portion and so good! The bbq was perfect I wasn’t expecting it to be so flavorful since most bbq places can be a hit or miss! The Smoked Rib Bites was a good amount for one person and if you think you’ll want to share you won’t! Pink Pickled Deviled Eggs were great as well I thought it would have that overpowered pickled vinegar-y taste and smell and it didn’t which was a bonus. BBQ Nachos we’re also great and they didn’t slack on the pulled pork as well. It was a lot of meat, with a good amount of black beans, caramelized onions, and sour cream. My friends invited me to barbecue night yesterday. I said no, but now I’m regretting it. That was a missed steak 🥩🤣

We walked into this place because the smell was that good. We weren’t even looking for barbecue. Our server was really cool and I think that was the best part. The most delicious dish we had was the fries and even though I am a fry fiend I’m not sure that’s a good thing. The grits were also delicious the slaw unfortunately had no flavor and the ribs were pretty dry. Pretty big bummer there but still giving it four stars because Experience was great and the few things we did enjoy were pretty dang good. My partner really loved the mac & cheese, I must add that.

I'll say upfront, having been extensively exposed to Southern BBQ I have high standards. Seattle has lots of great food options, but in general leaves a lot to be desired in the BBQ category. Bitterroot continues this tradition with good for Seattle, but not very good in Tennessee type of BBQ. The portions are respectable, the sauces are good, but they just don't have that crazy depth of flavor and juiciness you would hope for. Is this a good option for dinner if you're in Ballard? Sure! Should you expect top tier BBQ? No :(

My 1st review in over a year or more but after eating at Bitterroot BBQ aka MammothI felt guilty leaving and not. They have the best pulled pork sandwich I've had since I can remember. With 3 different kinds of house made BBQ sauce to choose from, for a steal of a price at $14 even before tax. With a very healthy portion of pork/ham, this sandwich does not disappoint. Very much looking forward to trying everything else on their menu! For a side I tried their cheddar grits, which were creamy perfectly cheesy, and cooked. They know what they're doing!!
